I am involved heavily in the outsourcing of website promotion and link development. It’s not only something that helps pay the bills, but also a topic I find quite interesting. Link development and website promotion tactics are akin to putting a rocket under your site and propelling it to the stars. They are key to helping you achieve your personal and business goals.
Ok, let’s get down to business and talk about how you can make your site be more successful than ever before. Here’s 7 Ways To Put A Rocket Under Your Site.
1) Learn from the best. Check out the blogs and sites of those who are successful at promoting their sites and have a track record of making money. Darren Rowse may sound like a gomper loser most of the time, but he does have some great advice from time to time. His Problogger site has some pretty lame new articles, but his older stuff has some real nuggets of value. Another person to check out is NickyCakes. He’s a reformed blackhat that can teach you what you need to know to make quid dosh.
2) Use Social Media Networks. Social media is your friend. People love sharing things so take advantage of it. Make sure you have all of those little buttons from sites like Facebook, Friendster, MySpace and Hi-5. For maximum effective reach, get as many friends as possible and send out regular bulletins letting them know about your latest articles, news or offers. You can take it one step further by getting a Facebook page or even Facebook group for your site. Needless to say, you should be sharing a link to something new each and everyday. Facebook makes it easy.
3) Take Advantage of Social Links. Sites like Reddit, Digg, and Mixx offer you a way to submit a link to be voted on by internet users at large. The more votes your link gets then the more exposure it gets on the social site. The great thing about the sites listed is that those links are dofollow and can help you improve your rankings in the search engine. Not only do you get traffic from the social link site, but you also get increased traffic from the search engine. That’s an important double whammy.
4) Stumbleupon Is Your Friend. If you are webmaster and you are interested in traffic, you should be using the Stumbleupon toolbar. Stumbleupon is a social application that allows you rate sites you like and dislike. By clicking on the stumble button, you get a new site that fits your interests. By submitting pages to Stumbleupon, you can generate impressive amounts of traffic, particularly if you have a well written article that’s of interest to a broad group of users. It’s not unusual to pick up 1500 to 3000 page views in the 48 hours following a submission.
5) Squidoo Gives You Juice. Squidoo sure does give you juice, link juice that is. Putting together a Squidoo lens on your topic helps you get expert status on your topic and gives you all important rankings in the search engine results. Squidoo also gives you backlinks to your site, improving your own sites performance in the SERPs. Squidoo lenses are free so why not have one or ten. With other companies like weebly and HubPages, you don’t need to stop with just a Squidoo lens, you can put up a page on your topic on every one of these single page topic sites.
6) Articles Give You Power. Articles submitted to Ezine Articles, Associated Content and other sites give you backlinks and traffic. Articles need to be well written and compelling for maximum effectiveness. The more articles you submit, the more expert your opinions can seem on a topic. By doing this type of promotion, you can get increased exposure for your niche area.
7) RSS Feeds Galore. RSS feeds are everywhere. They offer a great way to keep your updated content in front of as many eyes as possible. Mixx, for example, has an RSS feed of all of your submissions. Every SMF forum has a feed as well. For example, the Blogovela Forum RSS Feed is http://boards.blogovela.com/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss;limit=20 . Wherever there is a feed, there is an opportunity to ping it to many different aggregators. I made up a special script to do mass pingings, but you can just as easily use Pingomatic.com to individually ping every feed you have. Just remember to bookmark your ping and you can ping your feed any time by merely visiting the bookmark.
Bonus: Network With Others. No man is an island. It’s important to use a webmaster tools forum to help you get the most marketing bang. By sharing stumbles, reddits, diggs and lens rolls, you can help others while they are helping you. You can learn new ways of marketing and learn better ways to manage your site.
Are you ready to try one or all of these ways to put a rocket under your site? Now is the time to seize the moment and make the moment yours.
