Ok, there are many posts out there that talk about interesting ways to market your web site. They give great advice on seemingly easy ways to increase traffic to your site, improve conversions and increase brand awareness. I am sure they all work perfectly.
I’ve always been one to buck the trends so I decided to come up with Five Mundane Marketing Ideas. I have no idea how effective they are. The only reason why I am making up this list is help you get your mind working and to start brainstorming ideas for world domination through your web site.
1) Sponsor A Local Event. In towns of all sizes, there are always events taking place. These events are usually financed on a shoe string and are always looking for sponsorship. You can help your community while at the same time promoting your site. The advantage is that you’ll possibly get a write up in a local newspaper and even get a mention on a TV or radio station covering the event.
2) Put out a press release. You can put out a press release for just about any reason. For example, you could put out a press release on a new web site feature. Take it one step further, imagine the impact of putting out a press release for your sponsorship of a local event.
3) Telemarket your web site. Read up on telemarketing rules and techniques, then get started making cold calls promoting your web site in general or marketing offers in particular. I am willing to bet that you find telemarketing more effective than all of those hours dropping entre cards.
4) Drop Your Business Card Everywhere. Make up business cards with your web address on it and drop that business card whenever and wherever you have the opportunity. If you can drop it in a targeted location or give it to a targeted demographic then so much the better.
5) Take A Web Design Class. Not only will you learn how to design a web site that looks better than the one you have now, but you will meet a bunch of budding web designers who will be more than happy to put a link on their site to one of your marketing offers.
